Ghana’s position as the second-placed team in Group I standings of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers proved short-lived as the Black Stars have now dropped to third place.

This shift occurred following Comoros’ 2-1 defeat to Madagascar earlier today. Comoros had been leading the group standings before the match due to their superior goal difference over Ghana.

As a result of the defeat, Comoros has dropped to second place, elevating Ghana to third place while Madagascar claims the top spot.

Each of these nations has amassed six points by winning two out of three matches, with Ghana securing victories against Mali and Madagascar but suffering a 1-0 loss to Comoros.

Madagascar leads the group with a goal difference of +3, followed by Comoros in second place with a goal difference of +2, and Ghana in third place with a goal difference of +1.

Ghana’s upcoming fixture is against the Central African Republic (CAR) on Monday, June 10, at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
