Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo Urges Team to Show ‘Passion’ and Play with ‘Intensity’ in Upcoming AFCON 2025 Qualifiers
Otto Addo has called on his team to exhibit both ‘passion’ and ‘intensity’ as they prepare to return for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers next month.
Ghana’s campaign for the tournament, set to be held in Morocco, got off to a disappointing start, with the team securing only one point from a possible six.
The Black Stars lost to Angola in their opener at the Baba Yara Stadium and were held to a 1-1 draw against Niger. They will face Sudan in a double-header in October.
Speaking to African football journalist Micky Junior on the sidelines of the CAF Conference in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, Addo urged his team to improve their performance in the upcoming matches.
“The biggest thing is that we show passion [against Sudan]. This was lacking in our last game against Niger and we have to bring this passion back on the field,” said the gaffer.
“Besides all the tactics and quality, we have to show passion, especially defensively, and intensity, to beat this team [Sudan].
“If we show it, I think everything is possible and we can take some points from them.”
In Sudan, Ghana will face former coach Kwesi Appiah, who has had a strong start to his tenure, having lost only one competitive game.
