Appiatse Residents Clarify: No Threat to Discontinue Usage of New Homes

Appiatse Residents Dispute Claims of Threatening to Halt Usage of New Homes

Residents of Appiatse have rejected assertions of intending to cease the utilization of the community’s newly constructed residences.

A subset of disgruntled residents, still awaiting inclusion in phase three of the Appiatse reconstruction initiative, had reportedly hinted at preventing the occupancy of the newly built 124 homes.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia inaugurated the 124 households as part of the Appiatse reconstruction project on Thursday, May 2.

While beneficiaries from phases one and two expressed contentment, those who received compensation to repair their damaged structures and individuals awaiting inclusion in phase three were less satisfied.

However, residents clarified in a statement released on Monday, May 6, that their aim was to ensure all necessary work was completed to the highest standards before moving into the homes.

“We believe that it is in the best interest of all residents to wait until all finishing touches are done before occupancy to ensure the safety and comfort of our community members,” they added.

The residents of Appiatse expressed their understanding of the challenges encountered by the Appiatse Reconstruction and Implementation Team and the associated committees. They emphasized that they harbored no intention of undermining the commendable efforts made by these entities.

“If there has been any misunderstanding or miscommunication, we apologise.”

“We appreciate the efforts being made by the relevant authorities to address these concerns promptly, and we remain committed to working together towards the successful completion of this project. Our priority is to ensure the well-being and satisfaction of all residents of Appiatse,” they further stated.
