The High Court in Koforidua has confirmed Frank Annoh-Dompreh as the elected Member of Parliament for the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Constituency.
The court, led by Justice Addae, dismissed a case that challenged Annoh-Dompreh’s election. The case was brought by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which claimed that the election results were not correct and violated electoral laws.
The court accepted an application from Gary Nimako Marfo, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Director of Legal Affairs, asking for the petition to be thrown out.
The NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Fummey Selorm Philibert, had taken the case to court, arguing that the Electoral Commission wrongly declared Annoh-Dompreh as the winner. He wanted the results canceled.
However, the court ruled in favour of Mr Annoh-Dompreh on Thursday, April 10, and ordered the NDC petitioner to pay GH₵25,000 as legal costs.
