Detention of Three Teenage Girls After the Killing of a 16-Year-Old BECE Graduate

Three teenage girls are currently in police custody on suspicion of murdering 16-year-old Dennis Owusu Ansah, a recent graduate of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), who was set to begin school on Thursday, November 7, 2024.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident took place on Monday night around 7:30 p.m. in Anloga, Ashanti Region, following a dispute between Dennis and one of the girls as the trio escorted a friend home. During the altercation, one of the girls reportedly brandished a knife and stabbed Dennis in the ribs, resulting in severe blood loss.

Dennis was transported to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The victim’s family is heartbroken, with his mother and brother expressing profound shock and sorrow over this tragic event.

They are demanding justice, hoping the investigation will result in a prompt resolution and accountability.

“We went to Tweneboa Kodua (SHS) on Saturday, and we were told to report on Thursday. So, I beg the child has indeed passed so please authorities should ensure that justice is served,” Stella Frimpong, the deceased mother said.

Evans Owusu Ansah, the deceased’s brother stressed that “What we the family require is that the government assist and ensure that justice is served because you can’t kill a boy just like that. For a child of 15 years, you can’t just stab someone’s child.

“So, the government must ensure the right thing is done. I am surprised a child of her age could do such a thing.”
