Former award-winning boxer, Mr. Emmanuel Addo, who aspires to become the next President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), outlined his visions for Ghanaian boxers in a press conference held in Accra today. He is poised to be elected as the next GBA president in the upcoming 2025 elections.

In an exclusive interview with Accra Live, the Presidential aspirant, Mr. Emmanuel Addo, also known as General Mosquito, emphasized the need to address the welfare of Ghanaian boxers. He challenges the President of Ghana to support the boxing industry.

“I aim to ensure that boxers’ welfare is adequately addressed, as they bring joy to us through their fights. I want to challenge the president to support boxers because boxing has been beneficial to Ghana, as evidenced by the use of DK Poison’s money to purchase sardines for the nation.”

He also emphasized that it would be his ultimate priority to ensure that less privileged boxers are well-known on the international boxing stage and within the Ghana Boxing Association as a whole

“My plans are to set ambitious goals for everyone, assist the young and underprivileged individuals coming into the field, ensure their recognition globally, and organize well-structured events to attract more sponsors. I aim to promote boxing at every level and make it accessible to everyone. Selling your talent is crucial to gaining recognition, and I commit to doing my utmost to elevate Ghanaian boxing to international prominence.”

According to Mr. Addo, he’ll ensure the development of a strong brand identity and promotional campaign to raise awareness of professional boxing events across the country and bring back commonwealth tittles to Ghana.

“And also, my ambition is to elevate the global standing for Ghanaian fighters. I intend to ensure that fighters who attain the necessary titles are ranked at the world level. I commit to attending all conventions to ensure that fighters are properly ranked because it is through ranking that people will recognize the fighters.”

Finally, he shed light on some of his achievements and the support he has provided to other young boxers to help them become who they are today.

“I’ve facilitated the journey of about 6 boxers to the USA, and I assisted George Ashe in securing a title shot, leading him to fight in the YouTube arena in California during the opening ceremony. I’ve also supported individuals like WBO AFRICA when I was in Ghana.”
