EPA staff have declared a strike in response to attempts by Oppong Nkrumah to allocate its bungalow to Henry Quartey

The leadership of the Public Services Workers Union of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced an indefinite strike starting Friday, April 3, 2024.

The decision comes in protest against what they perceive as an effort to evict the Executive Director of the EPA, Dr. Kingsly Krugu, from his official residence to accommodate the new Interior Minister, Henry Quartey.

Chairman of the union, Godsway Daniels, instructed all staff to cease work on Friday. He stated that the workers would march to the Ministry of Environment, Science, and Innovation to deliver a petition and subsequently occupy the designated bungalow to prevent the Interior Ministry from ousting their boss.

Mr. Daniels warned the Works and Housing Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, to refrain from accessing the bungalow, citing the EPA’s financial inability to afford renovations for a new residence.

He raised concerns about the status of the bungalow traditionally occupied by Interior Ministers, questioning whether it has been sold and, if so, to whom.
