The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has introduced a new Online Advertisement Application Portal, marking a significant advancement in its digital transformation efforts.
The launch event, held at the T.C. Corquaye Conference Room at the FDA offices, was attended by members of the FDA’s Executive Committee, management, directors, partners, and stakeholders.
The portal aims to streamline the submission, review, and approval process for advertisements related to FDA-regulated products, representing a notable enhancement in service delivery.
In her speech, FDA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Delese Darko highlighted that the platform is designed to improve convenience, transparency, and accessibility, allowing users to submit advertisements, make payments, and receive approvals without the need for physical visits.
“This is a momentous occasion for us,” the FDA representative said in the welcome address. “The launch of this platform reflects our commitment to innovation, efficiency, and customer-centricity. It’s a leap forward in how we interact, engage, and serve our stakeholders.”
Under the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851), the FDA is responsible for regulating product advertisements. The new portal is set to greatly simplify this process by offering a clear and traceable record of all transactions and communications. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and accountability in the advertising process for all stakeholders.
The development of the portal was achieved through collaboration with Proper-Alliance, an affiliate of the AFCTA Network Hub, and other key partners. The FDA extends its gratitude to everyone involved in bringing this project to fruition.
As the FDA adapts to the evolving needs of the industry, the organization remains committed to ongoing improvements. The new portal is one of several initiatives designed to foster a safe, transparent, and efficient regulatory environment in Ghana.
The FDA urges all stakeholders to embrace the new platform and contribute to the collective effort to uphold the highest standards of product quality and safety nationwide.
