The National Food Suppliers Association of Ghana (NAFSAG) has declared its intention to stage a protest at the Ministry of Education premises if the outstanding debts owed to its members are not settled within the next 14 days.
In a statement issued on March 26, NAFSAG voiced concern over the unequal distribution of funds to suppliers, noting that only a few selected suppliers registered under the Ghana Commodity Exchange have received payments.
The Association has accused the Ministry of Education of lacking fairness and transparency in disbursing funds to suppliers, raising suspicions of a deliberate effort to undermine the operations of the National Food Buffer Stock Company.
“We suspect a deliberate and unconscionable attempt by the Ministry of Education to frustrate the operational activities of the National Food Buffer Stock Company to the disadvantage and chagrin of the suppliers.”
The Association demands immediate action to address the issue and ensure fair treatment for all suppliers involved. According to the statement, suppliers registered under the National Food Buffer Stock Company have not received payments since February 2023.
