Ghana secures ¥3bn JICA grant to upgrade Kumasi Inner Ring Road

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Hiroshi Yoshimoto, have signed two grant facilities to support development projects in the country.

“The Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Hiroshi Yoshimoto, and I yesterday signed two grant facilities for the Kumasi Inner City Ring Road Improvement Project and the Northern Region Improvement of Health Care System Project,” Mr. Ablakwa revealed in a Facebook post..

The grants, which were signed on Thursday, October 2, 2025, are valued at about 3.5 billion Japanese Yen.

“The two projects are valued at about 3.5 billion Japanese Yen,” he stated

Mr. Ablakwa explained that the support fulfills commitments made to President John Mahama during his recent working visit to Japan.

“It’s great to see promises made to President Mahama during his recent working visit to Japan materialize,” the MP added.

He further expressed optimism about the impact of the agreement on Ghana’s growth and bilateral relations with Japan.
