“GMX will strengthen Ghana’s creative arts sector.” – Egyapa Mercer

The Minister of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Mr. Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has announced that the Ghana Music Xperience (GMX) streaming platform will bolster the creative arts sector.

Ghana’s music industry made significant strides on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, with the launch of the first music streaming platform, Ghana Music Xperience (GMX).

The event took place at the De Iconic Events Centre in East Legon and was attended by various stakeholders from the entertainment industry, as well as government officials.

Notable attendees included Vice President and NPP Flagbearer Mahamudu Bawumia, Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture Minister Andrew Egyapa Mercer, MUSIGA President Bessa Simons, and Ghana Tourism Authority CEO Akwesi Agyeman.

Addressing the gathering, Mr Andrew Egyapa Mercer said,” Music is the pulse of Ghana, a medium through which we convey our heritage, resilience, and unity,”

“With GMX, we’re not only enhancing our creative arts sector but inviting the world to experience Ghana’s cultural richness. This platform aligns seamlessly with our goals to boost the arts sector and engage global audiences.” he added.

GMX provides users with a range of innovative features aimed at enhancing the music experience. The platform offers early access to new releases, behind-the-scenes videos, artist interviews, and historical Ghanaian content, offering a unique perspective on the nation’s musical evolution.

An AI-driven recommendation system customizes music suggestions based on users’ preferences, while social media integration enables fans to easily connect and share playlists.
