Interior Ministry imposes 4pm to 7am curfew on Sampa

The Ministry of the Interior has imposed a curfew on Sampa in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region.

This decision was made based on the advice of the Bono Regional Security Council and in accordance with the appropriate Legislative Instrument, following a chieftaincy dispute.

In a press statement signed by the Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, on Thursday, April 18, the Ministry announced that the curfew would be effective from 4:00 PM to 7:00 AM each day, starting from Thursday, April 18.

“The government urges Chiefs, opinion leaders, youth, and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their grievances into ensuring peace in the area,” part of the statement read.

Additionally, the Ministry stated that there is a total ban on all persons in the Sampa township from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons.

“Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted.”
