Light Heavyweight boxer Jonathan Tetteh of Ghana Black Bombers who was disqualified at the 2024 Paris Olympic Qualifier in Italy says he was misinformed by Coach Ofori Asare and was not over weight at 80.60kg as speculated in the news.
Speaking to Dornu’s Corner in an exclusive interview he said the coach told him his bout was fixed for March 6 and later on le was told that he will fight earlier.
According to Tetteh aka ‘Worldwide’ Team Ghana aka the Black Bombers were late for the weighing venue and that caused his not fighting in Italy, because they could not catch the bus. “I did not weigh at all so who said I weighed 80.60kg. I weighed 80.3kg before and I was prepared to shed the overload. I am very disappointed” he expressed.
He blamed the head trainer and threatened to sue him if the return home.
Jonathan Tetteh is was one of the medal hopes said he is so much disappointed because it looks like his adventure to Italy was worthless.
He however promised to compete in the African Games to pick a medal for his nation if he is given the opportunity.
So far one boxer, Theo Allotey has won one bout while Tetteh and female boxer, Anatu Mohammed who lost in round one are out. Watch out for more revelations, as calls to Coach Asare has not been smooth.
