The Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Doctors Association has decided to suspend its industrial strike after conducting discussions with both its members and the hospital management.
Following extensive talks regarding the accommodation challenges within the hospital, the doctors have placed their trust in the management, the Regional Coordinating Council, and the Lands Commission to prevent the purported private developer from seizing control of their residential quarters.
This development allows the doctors at KATH to return to their duties starting from Friday, March 15.
The decision follows a strike action by doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) on Wednesday, March 13, in protest against accommodation challenges.
By 9 am, the Out-Patient Department (OPD) of the hospital was already bustling with patients seeking medical attention.
Hundreds were left stranded as nurses on duty took time to explain to patients and family members why they were not being attended to.

However, in an interview with JoyNews, Michael Leat, President of the KATH Doctors Association, stated that following the meeting, their organization decided to halt the search for accommodation.
He stressed that the association has received assurances from KATH management and stakeholders that there is no longer a need for them to seek accommodation externally.
“After meeting with our stakeholders, they’ve promised to help us find accommodation so we see no reason why we should go back to look for accommodation by ourselves. So our management, together with the other stakeholders will do that for us,” he said.
Mr Leat maintained that members will not be harassed as promised by the management and stakeholders.
“We believe in them so there’s no cause for alarm. Our members also have agreed to what management and other stakeholders have said so we are happy, both sides, management and the staff and our stakeholders are happy.”
