NDC cautions NIA against facilitating unlawful voter registration in Pusiga

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly cautioned the National Identification Authority (NIA) against enabling the registration of unauthorized voters in Pusiga during the ongoing limited voter registration exercise. The party asserts that such actions are detrimental to the nation’s welfare and is determined to vehemently oppose any such endeavors.

Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the NDC’s Director of Elections and IT, conveyed these apprehensions in a Facebook post dated Tuesday, May 21.

Dr. Boamah scrutinized the National Identification Authority’s (NIA) choice of timing and locations for its ongoing registration efforts, particularly focusing on border regions during the limited voter registration period.

In his social media post, Dr. Boamah questioned the rationale behind the NIA’s decision to conduct registrations in border areas concurrently with the voter registration exercise.

He insinuated that such actions might be politically driven with the intention of unfairly influencing voter rolls.

The former Communications Minister urged the NIA to maintain fairness and neutrality in its operations as a government entity.

He stressed the importance of the NIA not showing favoritism toward any political party, ensuring that its activities uphold the integrity of the voter registration process.

“Stop this National Identification Authority’s last minute manoeuvre to aid illegal voter registration in Pusiga.”

The National Identification Authority (NIA), headed by Bawumia’s bosom friend Ken Attafuah, has strangely chosen this voter registration period to embark on a special pilot program to issue Ghanacards to ‘Ghanaians living along the borders of Ghana and Burkina Faso in Pusiga’.”
