Osu Traditional Council calls for swift action to prevent dumsor

The Osu Traditional Council has called on President John Dramani Mahama to take urgent steps to prevent the resurgence of power outages, commonly known as ‘Dumsor.’ The Traditional Council warned that such disruptions would have severe consequences for businesses and negatively impact the livelihoods of citizens across the nation.

These concerns come amidst reports of fuel shortages for thermal power plants and delays in pipeline maintenance by the West African Gas Pipeline Company.

Energy experts have cautioned that promptly failing to address these issues could further exacerbate the country’s energy challenges.

Speaking at a press engagement, Nii Nortey Adumuah IV, the Osu Osiahene, criticized the previous administration under Nana Akufo-Addo for neglecting timely maintenance of energy infrastructure, which could have mitigated some of these challenges and urged the government to allocate sufficient resources to tackle the impending energy crisis.

“When you look at some of these complaints we should not take some of these things lightly, because they say governance is a continuation and therefore it is expected that when you are living office, you make sure that you leave things in a shape that at least your successor will also be able to carry it to a certain level.

“I will urge the president to use his experience to talk to the power sector players, he has been there and he knows the problems that the energy sector has been facing. It is a challenge though but we hope that he will use his experience to keep the light on because the light going down will affect businesses.”
