The Manhyia Divisional Police Command in the Ashanti Region has imposed a ban on the exhibition and utilization of political party materials at the Voter Registration Center located in the Oforikrom Constituency. This measure has been enacted with the intention of averting potential clashes among political factions.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) within the constituency had raised concerns regarding the alleged distribution of New Patriotic Party (NPP) branded exercise books to individuals engaging in the current registration drive. The NDC contends that such actions violate electoral regulations. Consequently, the police have arranged meetings with both political entities, instructing them to refrain from showcasing party emblems at the center.
Following the police gathering, the NDC has pledged to comply with the directives issued.
Conversely, the NPP has acknowledged the distribution of branded exercise books to registrants but has refuted claims of monetary inducement.
In parallel, graduates and beneficiaries of the Free SHS policy have taken to the streets of Kumasi to raise public consciousness regarding the ongoing registration process.
The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP, whose identity remains undisclosed, has encouraged young citizens to actively participate in the registration drive.
To ensure an orderly process, law enforcement has bolstered their presence at various registration venues.
