Power outages have resulted in the destruction of UPS and numerous medical equipment at KATH.

In recent weeks, intermittent power cuts have wreaked havoc on the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), resulting in the destruction of several medical equipment, including the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) system crucial for the hospital’s operations.

UPS serves as a backup power supply system equipped with an integrated battery, which activates in the absence of primary power or during power outages, ensuring continuous electricity supply.

Reports from JoyNews indicate that the erratic nature of the power outages has contributed to the malfunction of vital hospital machinery, severely impacting productivity.

The recent power disruptions have significantly hampered healthcare services at both the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and the Manhyia Government Hospital, exacerbating the strain on medical equipment.

The sudden and unannounced power outages have resulted in the destruction of several life-saving equipment that relies on continuous power supply.

At the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, one of its dependable Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) systems has failed to activate following erratic power interruptions.

According to sources from JoyNews, these outages have additionally led to the malfunction of a wide array of life support and essential medical equipment.

The power can be on and off several times within minutes and that is what the source describes as most disruptive and damaging.

A lot of other appliances are breaking down as voltage could drop from 300 to 156.

The Manhyia Government Hospital was also hit by the outages.

The facility has had to rely on its standby generator set whenever power disruptions occur, impacting operations at the hospital.
