A suspected armed robber was killed by the police in a gun battle on the Teselima-Banda Nkwanta stretch of the Bole-Bamboi highway in the Bole District of the Savannah region.
On Saturday (16 March), the police at the Bole District Police Command on Saturday, (16 March) picked up an intelligence of a robbery incident on the Bole-Bamboi highway near Teselima in which six armed robbers attacked a Benz cargo truck with registration number UW 700 Y.
On reaching the location, the police and the suspected robbers started exchanging fire forcing the robbers to flee into the bush.
The Formed Police Unit (FPU) base, led by Insp. Carl Agyemang Acheampong, visited the scene again the next day and found one of the robbers in the bush with gunshot wounds.
The police retrieved from the robber an automatic pump action gun and 47 rounds of BB ammunition with two empty cartridges.
He was sent to the Layaata Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, thepolice in the area have commenced an investigation into the matter.
