As part of its strategy to garner support for its activities and specified entities, the Director-General and senior management of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA) paid a courtesy visit to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
The visit aimed to formally introduce Mr. John Boadu as the new Director-General of SIGA and provide an update on the activities undertaken since his appointment in December 2023.
Additionally, it served as an opportunity for the team to engage in discussions on potential areas of collaboration between SIGA and the palace to garner support for the implementation of its activities.

During the meeting, Mr. John Boadu expressed gratitude to the Asantehene for the chance to update him on SIGA’s accomplishments since their previous encounter with SIGA management.
He underscored that SIGA and the Ghana Revenue Authority are the two organizations in Ghana tasked with generating revenue for the country according to their mandates.
He said, “SIGA is collaborating with all stakeholders to ensure that the entities under our ambit are profitable and adhere to good governance practices. For the past five years since our establishment, we have improved on the financial reporting and compliance of our entities and increased their contribution to the National accounts by a significant margin.
The Asantehene, in response, warmly received the delegation and praised SIGA’s management for its commitment to fulfilling its mandate.
He noted that the government of Ghana had established state-owned enterprises to serve the interests of Ghanaians. However, he highlighted that over the years, the sector had faced challenges, resulting in limited benefits for citizens.
He said, “government has invested a lot of resources into these entities to ensure that its citizens reap the rewards of these investments. SIGA must ensure the ultimate goal for setting-up these entities are fully realised.”
He also urged SIGA to review the mandates for establishing some of the entities and provide recommendations to the government regarding whether to divest or recapitalize them to ensure they meet industry standards.
Mr. John Boadu expressed gratitude to the Asantehene for the warm reception and his commitment to supporting SIGA’s work. He pledged to keep Otumfuo updated on SIGA’s progress and seek his advice and support as needed.
The delegation comprised Mr. John Boadu, Acting Director-General of State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA); Mr. Stephen Asiedu, Acting General Manager, Operations (SIGA); Madam Alexandra Totoe, Acting General Manager Finance and Administration; Dr. Kwame Agyemang-Budu, Senior Technical Advisor, Energy Sector; Mrs. Afua Frempong, Manager, Corporate Affairs; Mr. Emmanuel Aniagyei, Manager, Director-General Secretariat; Ms. Araba Pratt, Assistant Manager, Corporate Affairs; and Mr. Roger Tay from the General Services unit.
