Ato Koomson, the son of Awutu Senya East MP and Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has reportedly been stabbed following a disturbance near the Electoral Commission’s office in Kasoa.

Reports indicate that Mr. Koomson was in critical condition when he was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment.

Sources also suggest that another individual was injured during the altercation.

Providing additional details, an eyewitness stated that the confusion erupted when supporters of the ruling NPP and the opposition NDC disagreed over the positioning of certain residents in the queue during the ongoing voter ID card transfer and replacement exercise.

The source explained that both parties typically reserve spots in the queue by placing chairs, but a disagreement over who should occupy a specific chair began around 4:00 am.

Mr. Koomson reportedly arrived at the registration center approximately 45 minutes after the altercation began.

He is then purported to have approached the NDC organizer at the registration center to assist in resolving the issue.

However, another alleged member of the NDC started to verbally abuse him.

King Adawu, a member of the NPP who also sustained a minor cut, recounted that during the altercation between the two individuals, the purported NDC member produced a knife and stabbed the Minister’s son in the chest.

Adawu informed Adom News’ Kofi Adjei that he attempted to block the knife, resulting in an injury to his hand.

Subsequently, the two were rushed to the hospital where he was treated and discharged while Ato Koomson has been admitted.
