The tenure of the GRA Commissioner General remains ongoing, with the extended contract set to conclude on March 31, 2024

President Akufo-Addo has not dismissed Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Rev. Dr. Amisshaddai Owusu Amoah, contrary to earlier reports.

According to information obtained by JOYBUSINESS, the Commissioner General’s contract was extended for two years, starting from October 11, 2021, when he was initially said to have reached the retirement age, until October 10, 2023.

Further reports indicate that he was subsequently offered another contract, scheduled to conclude on March 31, 2024. Based on JOYBUSINESS’s independent findings, Rev. Dr. Amisshaddai remains in his position and is expected to leave office on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

In recent times, certain parliamentarians, particularly from the Minority side, have questioned whether Rev. Dr. Amisshaddai was serving on contract, given his overdue retirement status.

Reports suggest that Julie Essiam, the current Deputy Commissioner of the Ghana Revenue Authority, is a potential successor to Rev. Dr. Amisshaddai when he steps down on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

In a related development, the President has accepted the resignation of Mr. Anthony Oteng Gyasi from the GRA Board. A statement signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, extended the President’s best wishes to Oteng Gyasi in his future endeavours.
