Tano North MP, Dr Gideon Boako, says his support for more than 2,000 new Senior High School students in the constituency goes beyond an act of kindness, describing it as the fulfilment of a personal dream shaped by his difficult childhood.
Dr Boako said financial hardship and limited resources once threatened to derail his own Senior High School education. He said the experience has motivated him to support young people facing similar challenges and help them pursue their educational goals.
Reflecting on his journey from Bomaa to Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School, Dr Boako said the support he received from family members and other individuals who played key roles in his life, together with what he described as God’s grace, helped him overcome the challenges and pursue his educational ambitions.
Dr Boako said the support initiative in Tano North was more than an act of kindness, describing it as the fulfilment of a dream he had carried for many years.
“What happened yesterday in Tano North was not just an act of kindness. It was a long-held dream come true,” he said in a Facebook post on Friday, September 18.
He said the educational items presented to the students—including chop boxes, exercise books, school bags and calculators—were his way of giving back to the next generation and extending the support he received while growing up to many more young people.
“What I did yesterday, by the grace of God, was to give back to my younger brothers and sisters in multiples of what others did for me years ago,” he said.
