By During a rainstorm preceding Monday morning’s heavy downpour, a massive tree fell on a motorbike and a vehicle, reportedly injuring one person who was rushed to the hospital.
The incident unfolded as the motorbike rider, attempting to avoid the falling tree, intersected with the descending trunk, resulting in the unfortunate event. Meanwhile, a military personnel caught in the chaos around Cantonments, Accra, managed to escape unharmed.
Reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle, coincidentally a military personnel, miraculously emerged unscathed and in good condition.
However, the motorbike rider was not as fortunate; the tree fell on the lower part of his body, necessitating an urgent rush to the police hospital in Osu for medical attention.
Following the incident, Dr. Kingsford Adams, Director for Parks and Gardens, addressed the media and confirmed the accident details.
Additionally, he highlighted that the aftermath of the fallen tree led to a significant disruption in traffic flow, with drivers displaying hesitancy in utilizing the affected roadways.
Moreover, in the area surrounding the Kotoka International Airport, around six vehicles incurred damage from fallen trees. The vehicles parked near the Landing Restaurant were particularly affected as trees collapsed onto them, causing significant damage.
