The National Coordinator of the District Road Improvement Programme, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has cautioned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against pursuing a review of the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Kpandai parliamentary election, describing such a move as costly and unlikely to yield meaningful gains.
Mr Vanderpuye said prolonged post-election litigation often drains time, financial resources and political capital, while delivering little strategic value to political parties.
He noted that extended legal battles usually weaken both candidates and their parties rather than enhance their prospects in future elections.
The former Minister for Youth and Sports stressed that in the absence of compelling legal or factual grounds, it would be more prudent for the party to accept the court’s decision and concentrate on internal reorganisation and long-term political strategy.
“Falling is not the end of your life. Sometimes it is better to go back, reflect, and come back again. I will urge them that if they think there is enough fact and evidence for them to be able to ask the Supreme Court to review their decision, then fine. But other than that, I think it will be a fruitless exercise,” he said in an interview with Channel One TV on Thursday, January 29.
His remarks follow indications that the NDC plans to pursue a review of the apex court’s ruling after studying the certified true copy, insisting the legal process remains ongoing.
