Ghana’s Alfred Lamptey to face Jaouad Belmehdi in Abu Dhabi on March 2

The third edition of the renowned “Emerging Stars Arabia” professional boxing series, which highlights the progress of Arab boxers on a global stage, is scheduled for Saturday, March 2. The event will take place outdoors at the scenic Yas Links Golf Course in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

“Emerging Stars Arabia 3” will be available for live streaming on DAZN and ESPN Knockout, with coverage also on Abu Dhabi Sports TV, starting at 8 p.m. UAEST.

Following the success of the first two RSA events on September 9, 2023, and January 13, boxing enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the return of the series to uncover more overlooked veterans and promising talents from the relatively untapped region.

In the main event, Moroccan super featherweight Jaouad “The Moroccan Bomber” Belmehdi (19-1-3, 9 KOs) will face the undefeated Alfred Lamptey (13-0, 9 KOs), the top-ranked Ghanaian and African star, in a 10-round match. Belmehdi, a former French Lightweight Champion, boasts a three-fight win streak with notable victories over opponents like James Chereji, Sebri Sediri (TKO1), and Meyyl Vegas (TKO4). Lamptey, a 21-year-old former World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Silver, World Boxing Organization (WBO) Youth, and Ghana super featherweight champion.

The Rising Stars Arabia (RSA) series, a pioneering initiative in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, is sanctioned by the Middle East Professional Boxing Commission. With the vision and initiatives of promoter Ahmed Seddiqi, who recognized the underrepresentation of Arab talent by Western promoters, the series aims to provide a platform for these athletes.

In the co-featured event, local favorite Fahad “Kid Emirati” Al Bloushi (13-1, 3 KOs) with a 12-fight win streak will take on Venezuelan lightweight Andres Garcia (14-7-1, 11 KOs) in an eight-round bout. Al Bloushi holds the title of the most experienced Emirati boxer with 14 professional fights.

Other notable matchups include undefeated United Arab Emirates super flyweight Sultan Al Nuaimi (10-0, 6 KOs) against Eliu Canario (14-3, 11 KOs) in a 10-round bout, and Iraqi light heavyweight prospect Amer Kadhum Ghaneem (3-0, 1 KO) facing WBC Asian Continental Super Middleweight Champion Wulamu Tulake (11-3-1, 6 KOs) from China.

The undercard features a compelling 10-round welterweight clash between Egyptian welterweight Abdumonem “Braveheart” Said (23-3-1, 11 KOs), a former Egyptian Super Welterweight Champion, and undefeated Indian Faizan Anwar (16-0, 8 KOs).
