Some parents whose children are yet to secure placement in Senior High Schools (SHSs) are calling on the Ghana Education Service (GES), the Ministry of Education and President John Dramani Mahama to urgently intervene to resolve the challenges surrounding the ongoing school placement exercise.
The concerns of the affected parents intensified at the GNAT Hall in Accra, one of the designated centres set up to assist parents and candidates experiencing difficulties with the placement process.
A large number of parents gathered at the facility on Tuesday, September 8, seeking assistance to resolve placement challenges affecting their children.
The situation reportedly became tense as the crowd surged for assistance, resulting in a glass door at the entrance of the facility being shattered. The incident highlighted the growing frustration among some parents who have been unable to secure placements for their wards despite the ongoing placement exercise.
Speaking to Adom News, some of the affected parents expressed frustration and disappointment with the placement process, detailing the challenges they have faced in securing suitable schools for their children.
According to them, the continued uncertainty over where their wards will be placed has heightened their anxiety, especially with the start of the new academic year fast approaching.
The parents are consequently urging the authorities to take swift action to address the outstanding placement issues and ensure that all affected candidates have access to suitable schools.
They are also calling on the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ministry of Education to communicate clearly and promptly on the next steps for candidates who are yet to secure placement.
