C/SUPT JOSEPH OPPONG COMMENDED FOR SELFLESS SERVICE TO BECHEM DIVISION

The outgoing Bechem Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent of Police (C/SUPT) Joseph Oppong, has been commended for his dedication, selflessness and contributions to the development of the Bechem Police Division during his tenure.

The commendation was contained in a farewell tribute read by G/CONST Ebenezer Junior Arthur at a send-off ceremony held in his honour at the forecourt of the Bechem District Police Headquarters on Friday, October 30, 2026.

According to the tribute, C/SUPT Oppong arrived in Bechem from Akosombo on April 15, 2024, to assume office as the third Divisional Police Commander, succeeding ACP Richardson Dodzi Kumeko, who was the second commander after the late C/SUPT Joseph N.K. Ackah.

The tribute highlighted his commitment to improving police infrastructure, particularly his decision to voluntarily offer his official residence for conversion into the Divisional Police Headquarters.

“In one remarkable demonstration of his commitment, he volunteered his official residence to be converted into a full Divisional Headquarters. This selfless gesture contributed significantly to providing the Division with the headquarters we see today,” the tribute stated.

It also acknowledged his efforts in improving the visibility and accessibility of the headquarters by clearing the frontage of the premises.

Describing him as a man of dignity, integrity and compassion, the tribute noted that he demonstrated genuine concern for the welfare of personnel under his command.

The officers expressed profound gratitude for his leadership, sacrifices and commitment to duty, describing his contributions as a lasting legacy for the Bechem Division and the communities it serves.

“Sir, we say Ayekoo! Your years of service, sacrifice and commitment will remain a lasting legacy for the Bechem Division and the communities you have served,” the tribute added.

The officers wished C/SUPT Oppong good health and a peaceful retirement, assuring him that his experience and guidance would remain valuable to the Division even after leaving active service.

“We will be knocking on your doors when the need arises, although you retire from the service,” the tribute concluded.
