The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has demanded financial and operational documents from Sarkodie Baffour Awuah and Partners, the law firm where Manhyia North MP, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, serves as a senior partner.
The request is part of investigations into suspected offences, including criminal conspiracy, causing financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering and possible tax violations.
In a letter dated Friday, October 30, 2026, EOCO cited Section 19 of the Economic and Organised Crime Office Act, 2010 (Act 804), as the legal basis for requesting documents and information from the law firm in connection with its ongoing investigations.
The Office has directed the firm to provide its audited financial statements for the period between 2017 and 2025, as well as records showing tax payments made to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).
The requested tax documents cover payments made in respect of corporate income tax, Value Added Tax (VAT), applicable levies and withholding tax.
EOCO has further asked the firm to disclose all bank accounts it operates and submit the corresponding bank statements covering the nine-year period under investigation.
EOCO has also requested copies of the firm’s business operating permit issued by the relevant local assembly, proof of its renewal and details of its employees, where applicable.
The Office has given the law firm until November 6, 2026, to submit all the requested documents and information.
