Group submits RTI request seeking information on Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) systems for Election 2024

Election Watch Ghana has lodged a Right to Information (RTI) application seeking the serial numbers of all Biometric Verification Register (BVR) kits intended for use in the upcoming limited voter registration exercise.

Jude Balma, the convener of the group, conveyed in a signed statement that they are also requesting information on the registration centers where each BVR kit will be deployed during the exercise.

The group emphasized that the disclosure of BVR information is essential for ensuring transparency and accountability in the forthcoming electoral process.

The limited voter registration exercise, slated for May 7 to May 27, 2024, aims to facilitate the inclusion of newly eligible voters, who have recently attained voting age, into the voter register.

Below is the full statement.
