The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has assured party members that adequate security measures have been put in place to guarantee a free and fair presidential primary scheduled for January 31.
On Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Nana B explained that the presence of police officers—some armed—at polling stations is a security measure aimed at preventing possible external threats.
“It’s not a bad idea. You don’t know the external threats that may come, and they may not even come from the NPP. A lot of delegates are going to the polls, and the police have to be prepared,” he said.
He explained that officers near voting centres will be unarmed, while those positioned farther away will carry rifles to protect nearby areas.
“Every polling station will have some men deployed. Not all of them will hold rifles, but security is very important and must be protected during elections,” Nana B added.
The NPP organiser called on party supporters to remain calm and respect the outcome of the primaries.
“Support anyone who wins. I can assure you that no one can rig this election,” he emphasised, seeking to quell any concerns about potential manipulation.
