Police arrest four, hunt senior military officer over alleged kidnapping

Four people have been arrested by the Central North Regional Police Command in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a 30-year-old man.

The victim, Bismark Amoh, was reportedly abducted more than a week ago and subjected to severe torture, while the suspects allegedly demanded GH¢45,000 in ransom for his release.

The police, under a rescue operation code-named “Operation Rescue the Victim and Arrest the Perpetrators”, traced the suspects and the victim to a location in the Ashanti Region.

At a press briefing on Monday, September 14, Central North Regional Police Commander DCOP Abraham Acquaye announced the arrest of four suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping.

The suspects have been identified as Mavis Badu Acheampong, 42, a teacher at Kumasi Girls Senior High School and resident of Breman UGC; Charles Doku, 53, a security guard and resident of the same area; Oteng Baffour, 31, an electrician and resident of Breman UGC; and Kenneth Opoku Kwarteng, alias Culture, whose age has not been confirmed and who is also a teacher at Kumasi Girls Senior High School.

The police are also pursuing another suspect, a senior military officer who is alleged to have orchestrated the kidnapping.
