Police Arrest Three Nigerians Over Robberies Targeting Bank Customers in Kumasi

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three Nigerian nationals suspected of belonging to a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in robbing bank customers in Kumasi and surrounding communities.

The suspects have been identified as Aboy Promise, 30; Favour Uwalaka, 45; and Kingsley, also known as KC, 35. They were picked up in separate operations following intelligence gathered by the police.

A police statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, said the arrests were carried out on October 31 by an IGP’s Special Team made up of officers from the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit of the CID Headquarters and the Accra Regional Police Intelligence Directorate.

The first two suspects were arrested at a hotel in Moshie Zongo. A search of their rooms reportedly led to the retrieval of GH¢1,600, assorted mobile phones, a Royal motorbike and a master key suspected to have been used to gain unlawful access to victims’ vehicles.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the syndicate monitored banking premises, identified customers who withdrew large sums of money and followed them before carrying out the robberies, according to the police.

The suspects are also alleged to have used a master key to break into vehicles belonging to bank customers and steal cash left inside.

The police statement further revealed that, during interrogation, the two suspects named two alleged accomplices, identified as Chinedu, also known as Alhaji, and Kingsley, alias KC.

The suspects subsequently led investigators to another hotel at Dichemso, where Kingsley was arrested. Chinedu, however, remains at large, with the police appealing to the public to provide credible information that could lead to his arrest.

The three suspects are alleged to have confessed to robbing a victim of GH¢15,000 on October 27, 2026, at Asokore Mampong after the victim withdrew the money from Kwamang Rural Bank.

Police investigations have also linked them to similar robbery incidents at the Atonsu branch of Fidelity Bank, the Ahodwo branch of Access Bank and other locations across Kumasi and its surrounding communities.

The three arrested suspects have since been transferred to the Ashanti Regional Police Command, where they are assisting with ongoing investigations.

Meanwhile, the police have urged bank customers to remain vigilant and watch out for suspicious individuals around banking premises. The public has also been cautioned against leaving cash and other valuables unattended in vehicles.
