Coach Ernest Ofori of the Charles Quartey Boxing Foundation has addressed the controversy surrounding Ghanaian boxer Faisal Abubakari following his recent bout in Germany.
Ofori, who was in Abubakari’s corner as his official coach during last weekend’s bout, addressed the dispute during a Facebook Live session, providing details on what he described as an emerging managerial and financial disagreement involving the boxer’s former manager, known as Priceless.
According to Coach Ofori, Priceless has reportedly petitioned the German authorities and the fight’s promoter, claiming that he remains Abubakari’s official manager and is therefore entitled to any payment arising from the boxer’s participation in the bout.
Coach Ernest Ofori further disclosed that the team has engaged lawyers and is considering legal action to help resolve the dispute.
He also raised concerns about the relationship between Faisal Abubakari and his former manager, Priceless, alleging that the manager has not provided the level of support he believes is necessary for the boxer’s professional development.
Ofori also made another allegation involving one of Ghana’s prominent boxing managers and promoters. He claimed that the former manager contacted the promoter after the latter expressed interest in working with Faisal Abubakari. According to Ofori, the development eventually led to the threat of legal action and the termination of the manager’s contractual relationship with Abubakari.
A Developing Dispute
The latest development adds another dimension to the dispute surrounding Faisal Abubakari and his team following their recent trip to Germany.
Coach Ernest Ofori’s claims remain allegations, and Abubakari’s former manager, Priceless, has yet to publicly respond to the accusations.
With lawyers reportedly involved, the matter could ultimately be resolved through legal and contractual processes.
