NPP Commends Dampare and Police for Ensuring Peaceful Ejisu By-election

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has commended Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, praising the professionalism exhibited by police officers throughout the Ejisu by-election.

In an official statement issued on May 2 and endorsed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Koduah Frimpong, the NPP expressed appreciation for Dr. Dampare’s leadership in ensuring the security of the electoral proceedings.

“We commend the Inspector General of Police and the Ghana Police Service for their tremendous commitment, professionalism, and efforts during and after the election,” the NPP’s statement affirmed.

The by-election, conducted on April 30, arose due to the unfortunate demise of the late Member of Parliament for the constituency and Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. John Kumah, on March 7.

NPP’s legal representative, Kwabena Boateng, garnered 27,782 votes, capturing 55.8% of the total valid votes cast in Tuesday’s by-election.

Following closely was independent parliamentary candidate Ing. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, who secured 21,543 votes, constituting 43.3% of the ballots.

The NPP attributed its victory not only to the electorate’s support but also to the professionalism and dedication displayed by the police officers deployed, under the leadership of Inspector-General Dampare.

The party underscored the significance of maintaining peace and order during electoral processes and commended the police for their role in ensuring a tranquil and successful by-election.
