Ghana’s senior men’s national team, the Black Stars, have earned a nomination for the Men’s National Team of the Year award at the 2026 CAF Awards.
The nomination follows an impressive qualifying campaign in which Ghana won five of their six matches to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Black Stars also advanced to the knockout stage of the global tournament for the first time since 2010.
Ghana will face competition from nine other national teams — Algeria, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, DR Congo, Egypt, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa and Tunisia — for the award.

Meanwhile, the Black Stars have struggled for consistency in recent months, managing just one win in their last eight matches across all competitions.
Their poor run has extended to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, where Ghana suffered defeats in their opening two Group C matches against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
The losses have left Ghana bottom of Group C, while Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia lead the standings with six points each.
The Black Stars are expected to return to action in a double-header against Somalia in mid-November as they seek to revive their AFCON qualifying campaign.
